Surgical Oncology Research Leader

An Instructor will serve in various capacities including research, education, scholarship, funding applications, health and safety, ethics, and other duties. Key responsibilities include:

  • initiating and running prospective Pakistan Brain Tumor Epidemiology Studies
  • managing Biorepositories
  • conducting research related to surgical oncology
  • expanding current areas of research in regenerative medicine and stem cell biology
  • working in teams including post-docs, clinical fellows, and PhD students
  • developing and submitting extramural grant proposals
  • fostering multi-disciplinary collaboration with faculty from across AKU and UCSF
  • engaging and assisting in developing specific modules/courses for graduate students in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine
  • overseeing and managing teams and research ensuring thesis development, publications, procuring funding, budgeting, and maintaining compliance with laboratory and ethical protocols
  • presenting regular progress reports to the Director and UCSF at periodic intervals
  • fostering a sustained scientific collaboration with colleagues at UCSF.

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant subject area, be research active with first-hand laboratory experience, have experience supervising graduate students, post-docs, and fellows, have published in journals of international repute, possess good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English, and have a track record of extramural grant funding.
