Solution and Proposal Engineer Job Description

The role of a Solution and Proposal Engineer is central to designing, optimizing, and proposing control system solutions tailored to customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include reviewing RFQs to ensure design solutions meet customer needs, having in-depth knowledge of PLC/DSC-based control systems and SCADA systems, estimating and creating proposals for brown field jobs, performing effort estimation for engineering, construction, and testing works, developing project execution plans, providing sales support for key proposals against received RFQs, coordinating proposal-related tasks with the sales team, supporting the team in obtaining multiple quotes from vendors, developing standard procedures, and producing high-level execution philosophies, project plans, design procedures, and commercial terms & conditions.
Additionally, the engineer will propose and design optimal control system architectures with knowledge of network protocols and evaluate Quality of Product solutions as defined.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master Degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in engineering or technical sales required.
  • Knowledge of field instrumentation selections and designing cost-optimized solutions.
  • Experience in site work and estimating construction scope for control system solution installation.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Business development skills, including price negotiation and discount scheduling with vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
