Optometrist and Orthoptist Educator

This role focuses on teaching, mentoring, and researching in the field of optometry and orthoptics.

About This Opportunity
  1. We are seeking a qualified educator to deliver high-quality courses and contribute to university-wide goals for teaching excellence.
  2. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging teaching strategies, facilitating experiential learning, and supervising student projects.
  3. As an educator, you will also mentor students through our Riphah Mentoring Program, provide feedback and assess student work, and maintain accurate records of student performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • To meet annual targets assigned by the Head of Department to ensure a high-quality teaching environment.
  • Teach assigned courses, applying faculty workload policy, and continually develop own teaching skills.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing feedback and assessing work and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance for internal evaluation.
  • Mentor 15-20 students through the Riphah Mentoring Program, updating data in virtual learning environments as required.
  • Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices, participating in departmental and university committees as needed.
  • Evaluate teaching content and methods to align with RIU's mission, addressing subordinates' and students' needs.
  • Monitor student attendance, supervising random checks in classes, labs, and practicals.
  • Pursue research applications and disseminate findings through publications or other media.
Requirements
  • Highly skilled educator with experience in teaching and mentoring in the field of optometry and orthoptics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to design and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
