Public Image Manager

About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Public Image Manager to drive media coverage and enhance our public image. As a proactive communicator, you will be responsible for managing our relationships with key journalists, reporters, editors, and influencers across relevant industries.

Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with key media stakeholders.
  • Press Materials: Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other press materials that promote our initiatives, products, services, and events.
  • Pitching & Storytelling: Proactively pitch story ideas to the media and identify news opportunities that align with our messaging and business objectives.
  • Media Monitoring: Monitor and track media coverage of our company and industry; prepare reports on the impact of press coverage.
  • Crisis Management: Support crisis communications efforts when needed, helping to craft messaging and maintain a consistent and accurate brand voice during challenging times.
  • Event Planning: Coordinate press conferences, media interviews, and other media events. Prepare company spokespersons and ensure positive media interactions.
  • Content Strategy: Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling content for media outlets, blogs, and social media platforms that showcase our news, thought leadership, and product offerings.
  • Reputation Enhancement: Proactively manage and enhance our reputation in the media, monitoring press coverage and public sentiment.
  • Database Maintenance: Maintain and update media contact lists and ensure the accuracy of contacts and relationships.
Requirements & Skills
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in media relations, public relations, or communications (agency experience is a plus).
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of media channels, trends, and platforms; exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills; proven ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists and key media stakeholders; understanding of how to leverage social media for media relations and brand awareness.
  • Attributes: Experience in crisis communications or reputation management; experience in specific industries depending on the company's focus; proactive, creative thinker who is always looking for new opportunities for media coverage.
