Financial Analyst Role Overview

This position involves linking operational performance with financial results and commercial strategy. As a Financial Analyst, you will support manufacturing operations, sales teams, and senior management through in-depth financial analysis, pricing recommendations, market intelligence, and strategic planning.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports. Lead forecasting and financial modeling for plant operations and sales divisions. Track key manufacturing KPIs (wastages, cost per unit, utilization) and sales KPIs (volume, margins, customer mix).
  • Sales Performance & Pricing Analysis: Conduct detailed sales trend analysis (volume, value, customer-wise, region-wise). Evaluate gross margin by customer, product line, and segment. Support pricing decisions through cost-plus or market-based pricing models. Assess the impact of pricing changes on profitability and competitiveness. Track discounts and promotional spending to ensure alignment with commercial strategy.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis: Analyze industry trends, market share, and competitor performance. Maintain intelligence on competitor pricing, product positioning, and strategy. Conduct SWOT and benchmarking studies to support strategic planning. Evaluate macroeconomic, regulatory, and geopolitical factors affecting the industry.
  • Sectoral & Customer Segment Analysis: Analyze demand and trends across key end-use sectors (e.g., automotive, construction, appliances, commercial). Identify emerging opportunities and threats across different market segments. Prepare reports and dashboards for customer performance, sectoral contribution, and margin performance. Support sales strategy with segment-specific financial insights and business cases.
  • Strategic & Operational Support: Prepare financial models and business cases for new projects, products, and markets. Partner with sales & marketing, supply chain, and production teams for decision support. Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for key strategic initiatives.
  • Costing, Inventory & Operational Analysis: Perform cost analysis; highlight deviations and root causes. Analyze raw material usage, WIP, finished goods valuation, and cost drivers. Monitor working capital KPIs and support inventory optimization.
  • Data Management & BI Reporting: Develop and automate reports using ERP (Oracle) and Business Intelligence (BI) tools. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial and operational dashboards. Enable decision-makers with data visualizations, insights, and recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical mindset with a commercial orientation. In-depth knowledge of cost accounting, pricing strategy, and financial modeling.
  • Proficient in Excel, ERP systems (Oracle), and Business Intelligence (BI) tools. Ability to analyze big data and present meaningful insights.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management. Sound knowledge of market dynamics and macroeconomic factors affecting manufacturing sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Analytics. Professional certification preferred (CA, CFA, ACCA, or MBA – Finance).
