Job Title: Associate Cinematographer

The role of the Associate Cinematographer involves working closely with the Director of Photography (DoP) to bring the director's vision to life through visual storytelling. This includes assisting in camera setups, lens choices, framing, and movement planning.

As a key member of the camera department, the Associate Cinematographer will collaborate with the lighting and grip teams to establish proper lighting schemes. They will also be responsible for supervising and managing the camera department workflow, including media management and backups.

Additional responsibilities include operating secondary cameras or B-cam when required, scouting locations with the DoP, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly. The Associate Cinematographer will also troubleshoot any issues on set and maintain continuity of visual style across different scenes and shooting days.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Camera Assistant, Operator, or Junior Cinematographer
  • Strong knowledge of digital cinema cameras
  • Understanding of lighting techniques and color theory
  • Ability to manage and organize camera equipment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

A successful candidate will possess creative problem-solving abilities, a basic understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual rhythm, and proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro. Familiarity with various video formats, codecs, and export settings is also desirable.
