Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree completed or in final year or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year's experience in tax and insurance matters in a large tax practice or have worked in a multinational or not-for-profit organization.
• Experience of independently communicating with tax
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu - should be a team worker and have excellent organizing skills
• Worked on ERP and proficient in Excel, Power point, and other IT tools and systems.

Job Role / Responsibilities:

• You will assist the Director Finance and the team in ensuring that the Aga Khan University (AKU) and the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation (AKHMCF) fully comply with requirements under statutory/fiscal laws related to income tax, sales tax, excise duty, property tax, stamp duty, and all insurance-related matters (renewals, claims management, submission of board papers, valuation exercises and risk surveys etc.) at the institution.
• Ensure that support and advice are provided to AKU, AKHMCF, and other institutions of the AKDN in Pakistan and overseas in all matters relating to taxation and insurance.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Manager Insurance and Tax Analyst.

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

Taxation:

• monitoring and ensuring that the University's tax withholding and reporting obligations are complied with under Income Tax, Federal/Provincial Sales Tax, Property Tax, Stamp Duty, Ground Rent and other relevant tax laws as applicable to a University & Hospital
• ensure that all taxes deducted at source collected / deducted from salaries and vendor's bills are duly deposited in the State bank Of Pakistan as required by law
• keep current on all changes in tax laws /closely monitor SRO's .and other related issues to keep the University compliant with relate tax laws
• monitor that the university is not charged any levy from which it is exempt
• capable of independently responding to queries related to tax / levies raised by the various departments
• ensure that queries raised by the tax authorities are properly responded - ensure safekeeping and easy retrieval system of all tax related documents for period required by law.

Insurance:

• Assist the Director Finance and team in overseeing the insurance program at the institution.
• Support other AKDN institutions in Pakistan and overseas in all insurance-related matters.
• Assist the team in liaising with insurance companies, brokers, loss adjusters, forensic accountants or legal experts on matters related to insurance claims.
• Assist the team in preparing region-wise quarterly claims reports and board papers.
• Assist the team in insurance valuations and risk management surveys to be performed at AKU.
• Recommend additional insurance coverage according to changing circumstances.
• Make payments for insurance premiums and accounting for the amortization of premiums.
• Relationship management on an ongoing basis to facilitate comprehensive coverage and timely recovery on claims.
