Job summary

The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth, timely, and cost-effective importation of goods and services required for both direct and indirect procurement. This position requires strong knowledge of customs clearance processes, import regulations, and international trade practices. The role involves close coordination with internal teams, clearing agents, shipping lines, banks, and suppliers to ensure that all materials are cleared and delivered within approved timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strategic relationships with clearing agents, freight forwarders, and Banks to ensure priority handling and reliability.
  • Analyze logistics cost structures to identify long-term savings and efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with evolving trade policies to avoid penalties and disruptions.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day activities related to import documentation and customs clearance.
  • Review, verify, and prepare import shipping documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with customs regulations
  • Coordinate with clearing agents, freight forwarders, and port authorities to expedite timely clearance of consignments.
  • Negotiate and evaluate Incoterms with international vendors to optimize costs and ensure smooth supply chain operations.
  • Analyze logistic cost structures and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Finance, Legal, Banks, and Operations, to resolve clearance-related issues proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including customs laws, and trade policies.
  • Monitor changes in import/export regulations and advise management on potential impacts.
  • Prepare and get approval of all documents related to custom clearance.

Key Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or master's degree in supply chain
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in imports, customs clearance, or international logistics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customs clearance processes, tariff structures, banking procedures for imports (LCs, TT, Bank Guarantees), and trade compliance.
  • must have experience working in a pharmaceutical company
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, MS Excel, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with government portals (e.g., WeBOC, PSW, or other country-specific systems).
