The Position

The division is looking for a Senior Java Developer – Team Lead with Solution Architect–level experience, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web-based projects that meet both technical requirements and business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead team of developers, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards and architectural principles.

• Ensure timely delivery of project milestones while managing risks and dependencies.

• Define the application's architecture and technology stack, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with long-term business goals.

• Act as a Solution Architect by evaluating business requirements, translating them into high-level architectural designs, and ensuring that proposed solutions fit within enterprise architecture guidelines.

• Lead the creation of technical design documents, architecture diagrams, integration flows, and data models for complex systems to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with architectural standards.

• Review and contribute to design and architecture documents, providing feedback to ensure clarity, quality, maintainability, scalability, performance, and security.

• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging knowledge sharing, open communication, and continuous learning among team members.

• Resolving technical challenges and addressing issues that arise during the development process, leveraging their expertise to find effective, secure, and scalable architectural solutions and keep projects on track.

• Work closely with other team members, including product owners, designers, and other developers, to translate project requirements into technical solutions.

• Offer guidance and support to team members, helping them navigate technical challenges, understand complex concepts, and improve their skills.

• Ensure that code reviews are conducted regularly as part of the development process to maintain code quality, identify bugs, and prevent technical debt.

• Validate that implementation aligns with the approved architecture throughout the development lifecycle.

• Act as a point of escalation for technical and team-related issues.

• Contribute to resource planning, task allocation, and performance evaluations.

• Participate in agile planning and stand-up meetings as necessary.

• Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

The chosen individual will work out of the Contour Software Lahore office, as an extension of the division-based R&D department.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 8+ years of experience developing and maintaining web applications.

• 8+ years of experience with Java

• 8+ years of experience with relational databases

• 8+ years of experience with testing web applications and enterprise software through manual and automated techniques/unit test frameworks.

• 8+ years of experience with JSON, XML, XSD, and XSL

• 8+ years of experience with developing and maintaining REST-based APIs.

• 3+ years of experience with cloud-native technologies and architectures.

• 3+ years of experience designing scalable, maintainable, and secure distributed enterprise solutions in complex, multi-tier systems.

• 5+ years of experience with git.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to design software using industry-standard technologies.

• Strong understanding of architectural patterns such as microservices, event-driven architecture, domain-driven design (DDD), layered architecture, and API-first development.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot issues in applications efficiently.

• Proven experience in leading and mentoring a development team.

• Ownership mentality with a focus on delivering business value.

• Strong understanding of core Java concepts, OOP, data structures, and algorithms.

• Good understanding of unit tests, performing code reviews, and ensuring the quality and reliability of code.

• Have the ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.

• Must be adaptable and willing to continuously learn and stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.

• Good in working across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, and conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Can effectively leverage cloud-native technologies to build scalable, reliable, and secure applications that meet the demands of modern cloud-based environments.

• Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including knowledge of cloud.
