Role Overview:

LEDFlex Group was established in 2010 after identifying a gap in the market for a more comprehensive range of linear lighting products and has now grown into a leading technology supplier. We design, develop and manufacture LED lighting solutions for the UK and International markets. At LEDFlex we continue to lead the way in performance, efficiency and ecological friendly exterior and interior projects.

We are seeking an experienced Lighting System Design Lead to head our design team in delivering innovative, efficient, and high-quality lighting solutions. The role blends advanced technical expertise with leadership, ensuring all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and project goals. You will guide and mentor engineers, oversee design development, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and contractors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design Leadership

ØLead the development of lighting system designs, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD, Dialux, or equivalent tools.

ØEnsure all design outputs meet performance standards, sustainability considerations, and aesthetic objectives.

ØReview and approve BOQs, BOMs, and technical drawings prepared by the design team.

ØImplement best practices in lighting design, integrating emerging technologies and control systems (DALI, DMX, etc.).

Team Management & Mentorship

ØManage and mentor a team of lighting system design engineers, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

ØAssign design tasks, monitor progress, and ensure delivery of high-quality work within deadlines.

ØConduct regular design reviews and establish quality assurance processes for consistency and accuracy.

Project & Client Coordination

ØCollaborate with project managers, sales teams, and contractors to align design solutions with client requirements and budgets.

ØEngage with clients during concept development, design reviews, and project execution phases.

ØProvide expert technical input for proposals, tenders, and presentations.

Innovation & Process Improvement

ØChampion innovation in design methods, tools, and technologies.

ØStreamline workflows for design documentation, calculations, and revisions.

ØDrive continuous improvement by implementing design standards and templates across projects.

Key Skills Required

Technical Skills

ØStrong knowledge of LED technologies, control protocols (DALI, DMX etc), and electrical circuits.

ØAbility to evaluate and optimize designs for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

ØCompetence in reading, reviewing, and validating technical drawings and specifications.

Soft Skills

ØStrong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

ØExcellent communication and presentation skills.

ØHigh attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving ability.

ØStrong organizational and time-management skills for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualification and Experience:

ØBachelor's or master's degree in electrical/ electronics Engineering, Lighting Design, or related field.

Ø5+ years of experience in lighting system design, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead design role.

ØProven track record in leading teams and delivering complex lighting design projects.
