About the Role

We're a growing public accounting firm looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who loves working with multiple clients, managing full-cycle bookkeeping, and delivering accurate, high-quality financial reporting.

You'll be responsible for handling day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial statements, managing payroll and tax filings, and providing excellent client support. If you're detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-client environment, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients in various industries.
  • Record and reconcile bank and credit card transactions, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements including trial balances, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, invoices, and payments.
  • Prepare and file HST/GST returns, payroll remittances, WSIB, and other government filings.
  • Administer payroll accurately for multiple clients and reconcile related liabilities.
  • Support year-end closings and assist external accountants with audits and tax preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records using QuickBooks Online, or other accounting platforms.
  • Identify process improvements and support the transition to cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Communicate directly with clients, providing bookkeeping insights and financial clarity.
  • Supervise and review the work of junior bookkeepers where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience in a public accounting or multi-client setting.
  • Certification: ACCA qualification (required).
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge: Full understanding of GAAP, full-cycle accounting, payroll, and sales tax compliance.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication. Ability to work independently and meet multiple client deadlines.

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with cloud accounting tools such as Dext, Hubdoc, Wagepoint, or Xero.
  • Background working with small business clients across diverse industries.
  • Experience in remote bookkeeping or paperless accounting environments.
