to manage and improve plant operations.
About the Role:
The Procurement Officer will manage day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring timely availability of materials, equipment, and services necessary for uninterrupted operations. The role requires strong market awareness, negotiation capability, documentation accuracy, and adherence to organizational procurement policies and government regulations.
Purchasing & Vendor Coordination
- Execute daily procurement tasks in line with approved purchasing procedures and company guidelines.
- Analyze market conditions, compare supplier offerings, and assess competitive pricing to secure reliable and cost-effective supply.
- Identify potential suppliers and evaluate products that offer the best value in terms of price, quality, and lead time.
- Review quotations, prepare purchase requisitions, and issue purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services.
- Track all orders and ensure timely delivery, addressing delays or discrepancies as required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate supplier, item, and price records with regular updates.
- Obtain correct and complete invoices, delivery notes, and receipts, ensuring they match corresponding purchase orders.
- Support administrative and accounting processes, including managing advances, verifying documentation, and maintaining accurate procurement files.
- Ensure all procurement activities follow internal policies and applicable financial controls.
Quality & Issue Resolution
- Assist storekeepers during goods receipt to confirm quantity, specifications, and quality.
- Work with internal teams and suppliers to resolve issues related to product defects, incomplete deliveries, or non-compliance.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Payable team to support accurate and timely invoice processing.
Technical & Regulatory Knowledge
- Apply knowledge of local tax rates and government-defined categories relevant to procurement activities.
- Demonstrate basic familiarity with industrial, electrical, and mechanical materials to support effective supplier evaluation and purchase decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Min 2 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Working knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and basic financial documentation.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to compare quotations, analyze pricing, and interpret supplier information.
- Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping practices.
- Sound understanding of taxes and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
