Job Purpose

As a member of the Engineering team, the purpose of Team Lead Automation's job is to ensure the Automation and Control System activities at site run smoothly without interruptions. They also ensure the QMS, GMP & EHS compliances, execution of smart manufacturing and automation projects, & driving continuous process/systems improvements.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or relevant) is required for this role.
  • 4 – 5 Years of experience is preferred in a similar role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and shared goals.
  • Strategic mindset to define long-term plans while addressing immediate challenges.
  • Proactive problem-solving and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Planning & Executions:

  • Leading the deployment, and monitoring of OT and cyber security related engineering mandated policies and standards at site.
  • Delivery of critical (high business risk) engineering projects at site. Participating in the delivery of the EHS, GMP and Engineering Audit strategy at site.
  • Providing expertise to site with respect to the deployment of the Facility Investment Plan and driving standard deployment and effective utilization of the systems and technologies.
  • Driving Operational Tech, Quality and EHS compliance solutions and processes for new/existing equipment and services through automation.
  • Driving continuous improvement of GSK Engineering systems and Assets management standards via automation and smart manufacturing solutions.
  • Providing guidelines and tools based on Industry 4.0 best practice, to business processes related to Engineering Maintenance, Calibration, and Engineering data.
  • Ensuring systems and ways of working support the Digital Data and Analytics, Robotics Process Automation and Smart Manufacturing ambition of GSK.
  • Working closely with the Operational teams to ensure that Lean Factory Design practices are adopted, and future proven solutions are built into and form part of new assets.
  • Provide on-site support and solutions: Lean Factory Design, Data management, Capability building, Operator asset care, Shutdown & Work management, asset reliability, asset life extension & recapitalization, reporting solutions & tools.

Strategic Planning

  • Defining the Smart Engineering programme at site to deliver the GSC digital ambition, moving towards a digital operation, realizing the full potential of Smart Manufacturing across our manufacturing processes.
  • Defining the Smart Engineering, Accelerated Innovation and Digital Capability roadmap at site as part of the overall Smart Manufacturing 2030 imperative.
  • Deploying innovative smart engineering solutions at site, delivering specified value to engineering operations: Asset Uptime; Equipment Reliability; Maintenance effectiveness; Manufacturing Capacity Improvement; Productivity Improvement.
  • Driving Definition and Strategy for Automation of the Production and Packaging Processes at site, in turn leading process automation aligned with Smart Manufacturing vision of GSK.
  • Providing ongoing support & service to the site in terms of automation and smart manufacturing.
  • Driving alignment and convergence with Tech and Other related functions to maximize efficiency of operations, delivery, and service.
  • Setting up ambitious goals for site to improve productivity, quality, safety, and sustainability, by establishing the standards on the right technologies, setting up priorities in alignment with Smart Manufacturing goals.

Compliance and Procedural Implementations

  • Providing expertise for manufacturing equipment, processes, and critical infrastructure by implementing relevant engineering standards and risk strategies to ensure safety and quality compliance.
  • Building operational and manufacturing Capability and providing support to business-critical projects and programs.
  • Defining the Strategy for Risk Engineering and delivering year on year improvement.
  • Developing and driving adoption of Engineering Standards, especially those pertaining to OT and Cyber Security to improve safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Dealing with critical to business Suppliers and Contractors and drawing upon their expertise to drive performance improvement.
  • Driving a culture of patient-focused, safe, complaint, and future-ready service delivery through our right-sized governance, assurance programmes, and effective collaboration.
  • Integrating and drawing upon the subject matter expertise of the Engineering & EHS team and other sources to ensure our Team, and site are truly aligned and set up for success.
  • Delivering OT Cyber Security strategy to address existing & emerging risks to site, including SMEs & Project Delivery teams to help prevent & ensure rapid recovery from adverse OT Cyber events.
  • Providing business as usual support to sustain & continually improve technology & processes so that tolerable risk & secure business operations can be maintained in an ever-evolving external threat environment.
  • Supporting the Business strategy and developing the plan with the operational team.
  • Delivering new requirements from the business, supporting the governance and the funding.
  • Participating in Communities of Practices and prioritization of the changes.
  • Supporting the process & system capability at site.
  • Supporting major projects initiatives pertaining to Smart Manufacturing.
  • Defining, Delivering, and Maintaining new Smart Manufacturing and Paperless Solutions.
  • Driving a process-centric approach to sustain the efforts of data and systems implementation.
