We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator with 5 to 6 years of experience to manage, optimize, and maintain our mission-critical MySQL databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of our databases while supporting business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases (Percona, Oracle MySQL) in a high-availability production environment.
  • Manage and optimize MySQL replication, including master-master and master-slave configurations.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using Percona XtraBackup.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address bottlenecks and slow queries.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including replication lag, data inconsistencies, and performance degradation.
  • Perform schema changes, indexing strategies, and query optimization for efficient database performance.
  • Manage user privileges, authentication, and security policies to ensure database integrity.
  • Perform database migrations and upgrades, including MySQL 5.7 to MySQL 8.x.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation and monitoring database activities.
  • Support MySQL instances running on RHEL-based environments, ensuring compliance with best practices.
  • Work closely with developers to optimize SQL queries and database structures for application performance.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and failover mechanisms.
  • Conduct database audits and performance tuning to ensure system stability.
  • Migrate databases from on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5 to 6 years of experience in administering MySQL databases in a production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Percona XtraBackup for backup and restore processes.
  • Experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS) system administration related to database management.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), Nagios, or Zabbix.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Familiarity with MySQL user management, roles, and privileges.
  • Experience with database migration and version upgrades.
  • Familiarity with disk space optimization, table partitioning, and defragmentation strategies.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for MySQL database management.
  • Strong experience in query writing, performance tuning, and database migration from on-premises to OCI cloud.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
