Commercial Assistant
Job summary

The Commercial Assistant will support the commercial team in sourcing, onboarding, enabling, and managing suppliers across online procure-to-pay (P2P) and marketplace channels. The role combines market-facing supplier identification and relationship-building with operational execution (onboarding, training, platform enablement) and ongoing performance management measured against monthly KPIs. The position requires strong organizational skills, stakeholder engagement, and practical experience with supplier platforms and operational reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • Supplier identification & market intelligence

: Proactively identify and evaluate potential suppliers across designated markets and categories; maintain supplier prospect pipelines and market maps; escalate strategic opportunities.
- Supplier onboarding & activation

: Manage end-to-end supplier onboarding (documentation, compliance checks, master data capture, contract handover); coordinate with Legal, Finance and IT to ensure timely supplier activation in ERP/P2P systems.
- Supplier enablement & training

: Design and deliver training to suppliers on online P2P workflows and marketplace listing and fulfilment processes; produce user guides, FAQs and onboarding materials; provide first-line support during go-live.
- Performance management & reporting

: Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs; prepare monthly performance reports for the Commercial Manager; drive continuous improvement actions with suppliers to address gaps in delivery, accuracy and platform performance.
- Market visits & stakeholder engagement

: Conduct periodic market visits to validate supplier capabilities, strengthen relationships and assess competitive dynamics; represent the commercial team in cross-functional meetings with Procurement, Operations, Finance and Marketplace teams.
- Operational excellence

: Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure data quality in relevant systems; support ad hoc commercial initiatives including pricing validation, small-scale negotiations and pilot projects.

Key performance indicators (monthly)

· Number of new suppliers identified and qualified.

· Number of suppliers fully onboarded and activated on P2P/marketplace platforms.

· Average time-to-onboard (days from identification to activation).

· Supplier activation success rate (first-time compliance/document completeness).

· P2P transaction success rate and marketplace listing success rate.

· Supplier SLA compliance (on-time delivery, order accuracy).

· Number of supplier training sessions conducted and supplier satisfaction score.

· Market coverage and number of strategic market visits completed.

Required qualifications & experience

· 
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field.

· 
Minimum 2 years'

experience in procurement, supplier management, commercial operations, or supply chain functions.

· Practical experience with supplier onboarding processes and working
knowledge of P2P systems/ERPs

and marketplace seller portals.

· Proficiency in
Microsoft Excel

and experience preparing regular management reports.
