Assistant Manager Packaging Development

Job Purpose
To Design and implement packaging solutions for new products/existing products that uphold product integrity, regulatory compliance, brand identity, and consumer appeal.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for development of packaging from primary to tertiary, to ensure product is safely delivered to the end consumer throughout the supply chain
• Identify innovative packaging concepts, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Work closely with product development and Marketing teams to understand packaging requirements, including product characteristics, shelf life, transportation needs, and consumer convenience.
• Evaluate the shelf life of products in coordination with Quality and Product Development teams, with respect to any change in packaging combinations to assure the required product performance.
• Translate requirements into effective packaging designs that meet both functional and visual objectives.
• Support and drive solutions to packaging consumer complaints and non-conformities.
• Ensure all packaging materials and designs comply with relevant domestic and international regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Ensure all projects are completed and meet the intended design, quality, cost, risk, sustainability, functionality, regulatory and manufacturability objectives.
• Continuously seek to identify opportunities for cost savings in packaging design, materials, and processes without compromising quality.
• Analyze engineering drawings of all packaging materials received from packaging and machine vendors.
• Evaluate artworks of packaging components and their machine proofs with respect to approved and validated technical drawings (KLDs).
• Work closely with the Manufacturing department to ensure that packaging designs are tailored for efficient manufacturing processes.
• Manage collaboration between internal and external teams to formulate project plans, convey timelines, and establish expectations with internal stakeholders in order to fulfil project deadlines.
• Conduct transit trial initiatives for new packaging, ensuring product stability across the entirety of the supply chain cycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve packaging challenges concerning designs, materials, and processes for current and upcoming products.
• Collaborate with the finance team to ensure target costs are achieved for all packaging development project proposals.
• Review the competition products to gather the relevant information that can be applied to product and packaging specifications.
• Implementation of packaging innovation formats and innovation strategy in the market related to designated business divisions.
• Plan and drive the packaging line trials in coordination with cross functional teams and to execute the development cycle.
• Execute the code opening procedure for all relevant packaging material and finished goods SAP codes for new product developments and new materials.
• Create and distribute Finished Goods BOMs for execution of project and update the existing BOM as per new requirements.
• Generate, compile, and maintain the data of barcodes for all NFL products.
• Create and refine the packaging specifications of all packaging components.
• Perform assigned tasks efficiently with the guidance of Packaging Development Manager.
• Prepare and maintain required documentation for Food Regulatory Authorities and Third-Party Audits for already implemented standards as well as new standards (ISO, HACCP, BRC etc.).
• Support the supply chain function in alternate vendor development activities for packaging material, as and when required.
• Look after record keeping and documentation of projects and activities to ensure the build-up of packaging knowledge bank and quick data retrieval, whenever required.

Minimum Qualifications, Professional Knowledge And Experience

• Bachelor's or post graduate degree in relevant discipline with minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of the Packaging materials , Packaging development process and Packaging testing.

Skills And Competencies

• Packaging Equipments and Technology.
• Packaging development processes, packaging types, their intended applications, and relevant packaging testing methods.
• Packaging Material Knowledge (plastics, laminates, glass, paperboard, corrugates, metal, etc.).
