Estimation Engineer

We are multi-national financial consulting firm looking for exceptional and qualified candidates to work with our international clients in the construction and engineering sectors. We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Experienced Civil Engineer (Min. 1-2 Years) to assist our US-based client in estimating a huge range of projects in the physically and naturally built environment from conception to completion. An ideal role for an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in USA-based (Civil) estimation.

Skills Required

Proven experience as an Estimation Engineer, or similar role with US companies or for multi-disciplined engineering, construction, or construction management companies.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications like Excel, Word, Outlook, and Estimating Software such as "Plan Swift" to analyze data and Auto CAD, or similar software.

Strong attention to detail, with an analytical approach and ability to work with meticulousness and ability to provide accurate estimates of projects.

Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong computer knowledge of Cost Estimation Spreadsheets, Databases, and Estimating packages.

Understanding of construction, working drawings, and engineering technical specifications and standards.

Provide complete quantity take-off, analysis, estimate, and studies for all deliverables in the assigned scope.

Identify constructability issues and analysis to determine constructability.

Define more cost-efficient alternatives to the proposed scope of the project.

Act as a connection between subcontractors, the design team (architects, engineers, consultants), and the client.

Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for various contract types.

Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to understand client needs and handle the negotiation process.

A Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction-related Qualifications, or other Qualified Estimation Certificates.

Experience: At least 1 to 2 years with a minimum of 6 months US estimation experience.

Job Responsibilities

Review Tender documents on receipt to ensure their completeness and prepare a Tender Study Report by analyzing the scope of work

Calculate costs, estimate timelines, and interpret plans, regulations, and codes of practice.

Reviewing the drawings and specifications of the projects prepared by the design team, and accordingly creating the final detail or Bill of Quantities (BOQ).

Organize/take part in bid initiation & review meeting.

Ensure that clarifications are raised well in time to get better clarity on bid submission.

Coordinate & follow up to ensure post-bid clarifications are addressed.

All in-house coordination for the preparation of bids including follow-up, and input collection from various sub-contractors or 3rd parties.

Ensure that commercial submissions to tenders fully comply with all necessary details.

Verify detailed MTOs (material take-off) from tender documentation.

Create a rates breakdown for each BOQ project item.

Provide cost estimates on potential change orders, and changes in scope.

Ensure completeness of Subcontract Enquiry Packages and availability of Subcontract offers well in time.

Ensure Subcontractor responses are complete & tabulated accurately on a Comparison Spreadsheet.

Work with the Procurement Group to ensure Vendors' RFQ Technical and Commercial Bid Evaluations are completed in a timely manner.

Assist the Proposals Manager in the identification, evaluation, and ranking of risks as well as developing a strategy to manage and mitigate the risks to the Company.

Ensures the Estimate Basis is "Current Costs" and escalation is properly covered. Wherever possible a good value of estimate contingencies is to be captured.

Present to the Proposals Manager for review the Cost Estimate in detail prior to the review of the tender by Management.

Assist the Proposals Manager with the preparation of a list of clarifications and qualifications for the proposal.

Check for completeness, pricing accuracy, and adequate manning and resource requirements.

Maintain Lessons Learnt database from existing projects.

Carry out other tasks that can be reasonably expected from this role.
