ABOUT THE JOB:

We are seeking a Head of Engineering and AI to lead and grow our exceptional team of 30 engineers. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for defining and executing our technical vision, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and driving the development of our core products.

This is a strategic position for a hands-on leader who has a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and a deep understanding of modern software architecture. You'll be instrumental in shaping our technology roadmap, ensuring our systems are scalable and robust, and integrating foundational AI principles to innovate our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the technical vision and architectural roadmap for our core products, leading the strategic integration of
    foundational AI and machine learning principles

into our architecture.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of a scalable, secure, and reliable platform on our cloud environments.
- Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Digital Learning and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical strategies and deliver impactful product features.
- Manage engineering budgets, cloud infrastructure costs (AWS, PTCL Cloud), and key vendor relationships.
- Ensure platform security, compliance, and operational excellence, including incident management and performance optimization.
- Contribute to the codebase with hands-on coding to stay connected with technical challenges, lead by example, and maintain credibility with the engineering team.

Qualification:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing growing engineering teams.
  • Deep expertise in
    scalable backends and modern frontend development frameworks

- Experience with cloud platforms, specifically
AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda)

and a willingness to work with or learn our secondary cloud environment (
PTCL Cloud

).
- Proven track record of architecting, building, and scaling complex web applications.
- Proven experience building and leading
AI or machine learning initiatives

, with a solid understanding of concepts such as
Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and large language models (LLMs)

.
- Familiarity with distributed team management and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preference:

  • Experience in the EdTech sector.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Prior experience building and deploying AI-powered features or products in a production environment.
