Role Overview:

The NetSuite Functional Consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and end-users to understand current processes, identify gaps, document requirements (FRD/BRD), and provide workable solutions and system configurations. You will act as the bridge between the business, the technical team, and the end-users, ensuring the NetSuite solution aligns with business goals and is user-friendly for our regional operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead workshops and meetings with business units and end-users in Malaysia (and other subsidiaries) to capture detailed functional requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality business documentation including Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), process maps, and solution design documents.
  • Analyse As-Is business processes, identify inefficiencies or gaps, and propose To-Be processes with appropriate NetSuite configurations or workarounds.
  • Configure NetSuite modules (Finance, Sales, Inventory, Purchasing, Manufacturing, CRM, Intercompany) in collaboration with technical teams, ensuring alignment with documented requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into system specifications, user stories, or configuration tasks for developers/configuration team.
  • Conduct gap analysis between business needs and "out-of-the-box" NetSuite functionality; propose and document workarounds or enhancements where necessary.
  • Liaise with end-users to validate proposed solutions, obtain feedback, and manage user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to business users and support early adoption.
  • Support cut-over, go-live, and post-implementation stabilization phases, ensuring that user issues are logged and resolved.
  • Maintain documentation of configuration decisions, system changes, and business sign-offs to ensure audit-readiness and traceability.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's/ Master's  degree in Business, Accounting, Information Systems or related field.
  • Minimum 4–5 years' experience as a NetSuite Functional Consultant (or ERP functional consultant) with a full-lifecycle implementation track record.
  • Strong business process knowledge in modules such as Finance/Accounting, Sales/CRM, Inventory/Distribution, Intercompany or Multi-entity implementation/ Manufacturing/Inventory/ Project module. O2C, P2P, R2R, P2M.
  • Proven experience producing BRDs, FRDs, functional design specs and process maps.
  • Excellent communication skills: the ability to speak with business users, gather requirements, explain solutions clearly, and translate into system configuration.
  • Analytical mindset: able to identify problems, propose solutions or workarounds, and deliver results.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite implementation best practices, gap-analysis, and ability to work in a regional/multi-subsidiary context.
  • Good stakeholder management skills: liaising with business users, management, technical teams, vendors.
  • Comfortable in English; knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia or other regional languages is a plus.
  • Experience with NetSuite OneWorld, multi-currency, multi-subsidiary setups.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution industry.
  • Exposure to SuiteFlow, SuiteAnalytics or basic customization (though this role is primarily functional).
  • Experience preparing and conducting UAT, training materials, and post-go-live support.
