Strategists is a dynamic digital media agency focused on creating engaging content that dominates the digital landscape. We're growing rapidly and are looking for a talented video editor who lives and breathes the fast-paced world of YouTube, Instagram Reels, and YouTube / TikTok Shorts.

The Role

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Video Editor with a minimum of 1 year of 
professional, applied experience
 editing for YouTube and short-form vertical platforms. You will be responsible for transforming raw footage into high-performing, audience-obsessed videos that drive views, engagement, and growth. The ideal candidate is not just an editor but a storyteller who understands platform-specific trends, algorithms, and what makes content go viral.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit multiple videos per week, including long-form YouTube content (8-20 mins) and short-form vertical content (Reels, Shorts, TikToks).
• Often create multiple short-form cuts from a single long-form video to maximize content ROI.
• Collaborate with content creators and strategists to develop a strong narrative, hook, and pacing for each video.
• Select and edit audio (music, SFX, voice-over) to enhance storytelling and maintain viewer retention.
• Create motion graphics, lower thirds, animated text, and end screens that are on-brand and engaging.
• Color correct and grade footage to ensure a professional and consistent look.
• Mix and master audio for clarity and impact.
• Optimize all videos for each platform's specific technical requirements and best practices (aspect ratios, captions, etc.).
• Stay ahead of the latest trends, transitions, and editing styles on YouTube, Reels, and Shorts.
• Manage media assets and maintain an organized library for efficient workflow.

Required Software Proficiency (Non-Negotiable)

Candidates must have 1+ year of applied, professional experience using the following software in a content production environment:

• Primary Editing Suite: Adobe Premiere Pro (expert-level proficiency required)
• Motion Graphics & Visual Effects: Adobe After Effects (strong proficiency required for templates and animation)
• Graphics & Image Editing: Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator (for creating thumbnails, assets, and editing stills)
• Audio Editing: Adobe Audition or DaVinci Resolve Fairlight (for advanced noise reduction and mixing)

Bonus Points for Experience With:

• Color Grading: DaVinci Resolve
• Asset Management: , Adobe Bridge
• Captioning Tools: Rev, CapCut, Subtitle Edit, or Premiere Pro's transcription features
• Project Management: Asana, Trello, or Slack

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of professional experience editing for YouTube and short-form platforms (Reels/Shorts/TikTok). A portfolio/reel is required.
• A deep understanding of what makes a compelling YouTube thumbnail and the ability to create them in Photoshop.
• Expert knowledge of pacing, timing, and how to use jump cuts, B-roll, and SFX to maximize viewer retention.
• Strong sense of typography, color theory, and composition for graphics and text animations.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to take constructive feedback.
• Highly organized with a meticulous approach to file management and workflow.
