Key Responsibilities: Item Identification & Technical Specification

  • Identify mechanical spares, consumables, and equipment required for plant operation, maintenance, or new projects.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, part catalogs, and OEM manuals to determine exact part details.
  • Classify items correctly using internal item codification systems (if any) or standard coding systems.
  • Prepare or review detailed technical specifications, including:
  • Dimensions, material of construction
  • Tolerance, surface finish
  • Make/model/part number (if OEM-specific)
  • Process compatibility and application environment

Support to Procurement Process

  • Collaborate with the purchase department to draft item descriptions for tender documents or procurement requests.
  • Provide technical clarification to vendors and evaluators during tendering.
  • Assist in technical bid analysis (TBA) and participate in pre-dispatch inspections when required.
  • Recommend alternate vendors or substitute items when originals are obsolete or unavailable.

Technical Documentation & Standards

  • Maintain item master data, technical catalogs, and drawing repositories.
  • Ensure items comply with relevant IS/ASME/ASTM standards or nuclear-grade specifications where applicable.
  • Coordinate with design, maintenance, and QA teams to validate item compatibility.
