Web & App Admin Engineer

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments.
  • Install, upgrade, and apply WebSphere fix packs and service packs as per release schedules.
  • Manage and configure IBM HTTP Server (IHS) integration with WebSphere.
  • Perform middleware backups and restoration processes; ensure backup integrity and compliance.
  • Set up and monitor Disaster Recovery (DR) environments for middleware applications.
  • Manage and monitor log files, JVM performance, and middleware alerts.
  • Work with vendors and support teams for issue resolution and performance enhancement.
  • Administer and support DB2 databases related to middleware applications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with security and patching policies and regularly update environments.
  • Document all configurations, processes, and procedures; contribute to knowledge base.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Utilize scripting (Linux/AIX Shell, etc.) to automate routine middleware tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences / IT / Software Engineering
  • 2+ years experience.
  • Hands-on experience in WebSphere Application Server (WAS) administration.
  • Strong experience in IHS, DB2 administration, and associated components.
  • Experience with middleware backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Proficient in performance tuning, patching, and version upgrades.
  • Experience with middleware log management and monitoring tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis and incident reporting.
  • Strong scripting skills in Linux/AIX and exposure to automation tools.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal teams and third-party vendors.
