Role descriptionPosition Summary: We UST workday partner company looking for Workday Functional Payroll Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, configuration, optimization, and support of Workday Payroll across the organization. This role collaborates with HR, Finance, Time & Absence, and technical teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of Workday functional experience, including 4+ years specifically in Workday Payroll, and demonstrates strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Workday certification is an added advantage. Key responsibilities:
• Own design and configuration of Workday Payroll, including earnings, deductions, taxes, pay groups, period schedules, banking, costing, retro, off cycle, year end processing, and country specific rules.
• Lead end to end project activities for the payroll module: requirements workshops, fit gap, functional design, configuration, data validation, and cutover for at least one or more full life cycle implementations.
• Plan and execute testing cycles (unit, SIT, UAT, regression, parallel payroll runs), manage defects, obtain sign offs, and ensure payroll accuracy before go live.
• Collaborate on integrations between Workday and third party systems (time/attendance, benefits, tax vendors, GL/Finance, banking), validate data flows, and support issue resolution.
• Provide Level 2/3 production support for payroll incidents, perform root cause analysis, implement configuration fixes, and continuously improve payroll processes and controls.
• Monitor Workday releases and new features for Payroll, assess impact, recommend adoption, and drive configuration changes and regression testing.
• Prepare and validate payroll reports and audits, support statutory filings and internal/external audits, and ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance frameworks.
• Mentor and guide junior Workday analysts/consultants, review their configuration and test artefacts, and contribute to standards, templates, and best practices.
• Deliver end user and super user training, create/maintain functional documentation, and support change management for new payroll capabilities. Required experience:
• Minimum 8+ years of overall Workday functional experience, including strong exposure to HCM core and downstream payroll relevant modules.
• At least 4+ years of dedicated, hands on Workday Payroll functional experience, including configuration, testing, and production support.
• Proven experience leading the Workday Payroll workstream on at least one full life cycle implementation (design to deploy) as a functional lead.
• Strong domain knowledge of payroll processes and regulations for the relevant geography (e.g., US, Canada, UK, India or AU), including tax, garnishments, statutory reporting, and year end activities.
• Workday Payroll Certification (added advantage).
Role Proficiency:
Independently analyse and develop applications in assigned area of responsibility on ERP/CRM systems. Design solutions under the supervision of an Architect along with managing a team
Outcomes:
Develop technical documents such as Functional Design Specifications Deployment documentation
Perform design document reviews peer code reviews and suggest code improvements
A single point of contact for the build and deployment issues and resolve them on time
Learn technology business/system domain and as recommended by the project/account
Contribute to ERP/CRM Practice related activities like (but not limited to) assembling content for case studies contributing to reusability coordinating internal seminars and conduct knowledge sharing sessions organizing sessions during and participating in hackathons etc.
Select appropriate technical options for development such as reusing improving or reconfiguration of existing components.
Identify the problem patterns and improve the technical design of the application/system
Optimize efficiency cost and quality.
A self-learner implementing new features released in relevant technology wherever possible.
Act creatively to develop applications and select appropriate technical options optimize application development maintenance and performance by employing design patterns and reusing proven solutions. Responsible for others' developmental activities
Interpret the application/feature/component design to develop the same in accordance with specifications.
Code debug test and document and communicates product/component/feature development stages.
Validate results with user representatives integrates and commissions the overall solution.
Influence and improve customer satisfaction through things like (but not limited to) offering suggestions for code refactoring and improvements in business processes. complete sprint deliverables ahead of time helping client architects and product owners by way of design suggestions and/or explaining functionality to business stakeholders etc…
Influence and improve employee engagement within the project teams.
Set goals in NorthStar and timely. measure progress and update accordingly.
