
Assistant Manager Mechanical Maintenance

Job Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and consistent performance of production machinery through effective implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance programs. This role involves monitoring equipment condition, minimizing unplanned downtime, and managing critical spare part inventories to support uninterrupted production operations. The incumbent must ensure all maintenance activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards, while continuously improving equipment reliability through condition-based monitoring, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Implement Maintenance Strategies to prevent equipment Failure, and promote safety culture and identify risk associated with equipment operation and mitigate those risks
- Manage the objectives of both 3P and permanent staff under his supervision and spare parts inventory of all mechanical parts installed in sterile manufacturing and Packaging machines within the allocated budget.
- Ensures proper installation, commissioning of new production equipment and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability improvement initiatives for production equipment.
- Execute and monitor preventive maintenance activities and ensuring timely servicing of all production equipment and perform corrective maintenance and breakdown repairs of production machinery to minimize downtime and maintain consistent operations.
- Conduct condition-based monitoring of critical mechanical equipment to detect wear, vibration, or performance degradation early and plan maintenance accordingly.
- Coordinate and supervise the local fabrication of mechanical parts or machine modifications to restore or improve equipment performance, and manage spare parts inventory effectively, including stock level monitoring, reorder planning, and coordination with procurement to ensure availability of critical spares.
- Maintain all equipment and maintenance activities in compliance with GMP) and company SOPs and ensure strict adherence to safety standards and protocols during all maintenance activities, including use of PPE, lockout-tagout procedures, and hazard assessments.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults and malfunctions in a timely and systematic manner to restore operations and identify root causes.
- Participate in audits, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and operational efficiency and execute SAP Preventive Maintenance Module Task.
Key Requirements:
- a B.E degree with a major in Mechanical
- At-least 6-8 years of working experience preferably in a supervisor role for any reputed Manufacturing Organization(Preferably Pharmaceutical or FMCG industry).
- should have sound technical knowledge of pharma equipment, and knowledge about cGMP and Pharmaceutical Guidelines.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance program and knowledge of machinery such as Blister & Cartoner & Sterile Lines.
- Should have machine installation & commissioning experience, familiarity with root cause analysis and failure mode analysis, and should be proficient in maintenance management system like SAP
- Prepare reports and share maintenance data in the form of presentation
