Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and mission-driven Data Scientist with at least 3 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the development, deployment, and monitoring of predictive credit scoring models while supporting critical analytics and decision systems across our lending product.

Core Responsibilities

Model Monitoring & Optimization:

Continuously monitor deployed models, detect data drift, and retrain models to maintain accuracy, fairness, and stability.

Dashboard Ownership:

Design and maintain dashboards for loan performance, user behavior, and model health with regular updates and intuitive visualizations.

Data Pipeline & Quality Oversight:

Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure reliable and clean data flow. Validate inputs and troubleshoot anomalies.

Risk and Portfolio Analytics:

Deliver insights on delinquency risk, repayment patterns, user segments, and portfolio performance.

Stakeholder Reporting:

Prepare regular performance and risk reports for leadership to support strategic and operational decisions.

Data Experimentation & A/B Testing:

Design experiments to evaluate policy changes, eligibility criteria, and model iterations.

Support in Regulatory & Audit Documentation:

Assist in preparing documentation for internal reviews and external audits, covering model rationale and validation.

Ad-hoc Data Analysis:

Respond to on-demand data needs from cross-functional teams including product, growth, and compliance.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Model Accuracy Metrics: ROC-AUC, KS Score, Gini, Precision/Recall across cohorts

  • Model Stability (PSI/CSI): Frequency of drift detection and retraining

  • Dashboard Reliability: 98% uptime and consistent data refresh cadence

  • Model Deployment Speed: Time from drift detection to live update

  • Report Timeliness: On-time delivery of weekly/monthly insights

  • Default Rate Deviation: Accuracy of predictions vs actuals by risk bucket

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data science, preferably in fintech or lending

  • Strong skills in Python, SQL, Mongo, and ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, pandas)

  • Experience in building and monitoring production-grade models

  • Understanding of credit scoring, portfolio risk, and model validation metrics

  • Familiarity with MLOps tools, cloud platforms (AWS), and visualization tools (e.g., Metabase, Power BI)

Preferred

  • Background in Islamic finance or financial inclusion is a plus

  • Experience working with behavioral or transactional data

  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
