The Assistant Head of Department (Assistant HOD) plays a key leadership role in supporting departmental operations, ensuring academic excellence, maintaining staff performance, and aligning curriculum delivery with institutional standards. The position demands strong management, communication, and organizational skills to maintain smooth departmental functioning and uphold the institution's vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

1. Department Management

  • Supervise teaching staff and ensure adherence to academic schedules.
  • Conduct induction training for new teachers on the Website Portal and COD systems.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new student batches between the orientation and class start.
  • Submit the monthly department report.
  • Organize and lead two staff meetings per month to review progress and address concerns.

3. Teacher Handling & Performance

  • Track attendance, leaves, and punctuality of all departmental teachers.
  • Maintain and update a monthly Teacher KPI Report.
  • Identify training and professional development needs; recommend relevant workshops or coaching.

4. Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain smooth internal and external communication channels.
  • Coordinate with HR, Media, and IT departments for any operational or academic support.
  • Ensure inter-departmental requests are resolved.
  • Handle and resolve departmental issues promptly before escalation to the HOD.

5. Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all departmental reports and documentation.
  • Maintain updated digital and physical records on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure all teachers follow institutional policies, protocols, and code of conduct

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or relevant field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of teaching or academic administration experience.
  • Proven leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and reporting abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and online academic management portals.
