General Summary
Maintains ledgers and financial records of the organization. Reviews, analyzes, and provides financial data to management. Prepares various financial statements and reports. Prepares and files various tax and assessment reports. Performs month-end close process. Maintains employee time reporting data for company payroll and benefits reporting. Works with external auditors and consultants when needed. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and Part 32.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains ledgers and financial records including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable records and cash disbursements in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Prepares various financial statements and reports for use by management in assessing the financial position of the organization.
- Prepares various local, state, and federal tax assessment reports.
- Performs month-end closing processes including reconciling ledger accounts, reviewing revenue and expense accounts for coding errors, and identifying causes of large monthly income statement variances.
- Works with external CPA firm performing annual financial audit and preparation of federal and state income tax returns, including responsibility of making necessary tax deposits timely.
- Assists with payroll processing. Responsible for setting up new employees in the payroll system including giving each employee access to the accounts applicable to their job responsibilities. Work with HR Department and providers to ensure the company's payroll and benefits are paid and reported accurately and timely.
- Calculate and file payroll tax reports timely including appropriate deposits of payroll taxes, employee payroll deductions, and benefits.
- Provides financial information for regulatory reporting to consultants and internal regulatory department when needed.
- Monitors company compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting requirements plus Part 32 compliance for regulatory telecommunication accounting requirements.
- Provides accounting guidance and support to other departments and senior management.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Accounting or finance bachelor's degree or have at least four years of accounting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in financial software and technology.
Beneficial Qualifications
- Master's degree in business administration, accounting or finance is a plus.
- Certified Public Accountant license is a plus.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Skill in preparing and analyzing financial reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
