The ideal candidate combines LLB legal expertise with strategic, commercial tax knowledge to shape and implement enterprise-wide tax policies.

Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Manager – Taxation to lead tax strategy, compliance, and advisory for our corporate group. The role demands deep group-level management experience in industry, not in public accounting or Big‑4 firms. The ideal candidate combines LLB legal expertise with strategic, commercial tax knowledge to shape and implement enterprise-wide tax policies.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee group-level direct and indirect tax functions across multiple operating entities—Income Tax, Sales Tax, Withholding Tax, Custom Duties, etc.
  • Design and execute group tax planning strategies, aiming to optimize liabilities and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure timely, accurate filing of tax returns and compliance submissions for all group companies.
  • Manage tax assessments, audits, appeals, and litigation related to group operations.
  • Provide strategic taxation guidance on M&A, inter-company transfers, corporate restructuring, and investment proposals
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, operations, and other departments to integrate tax implications into business decisions.
  • Keep abreast of tax law changes, implement updates to policies/SOPs, and act as custodian of taxation frameworks
  • Lead and mentor the in-house tax team, fostering strong internal capability and accountability. Liaise with external tax authorities and advisors as needed, representing the group during audits or consultations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is mandatory; LLM (Taxation or Corporate Law) preferred.
  • Additional professional qualification such as CA (ICAP), ACCA, CMA (ICMA Pakistan), or equivalent, is preferred but not compulsory.
  • At least 10 years of relevant taxation experience, including a minimum of 3–5 years in group-level taxation in corporate/industry settings. Experience within a Big‑4 firm is not required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Pakistani tax laws (Income Tax Ordinance, Sales Tax Act, Customs, WHT etc.) and familiarity with international tax regimes.
  • Experience in handling taxation for multicompany corporate groups, preferably in sectors like manufacturing, FMCG, telecom or energy.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strategic thinker with analytical skills, data-driven mindset, and adept in complex decision-making.
  • Leadership & team management: proven ability to lead a taxation team, mentor juniors, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and tax compliance software, plus advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills to engage with senior executives and tax authorities.
  • High integrity, pro‑active approach and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
