Engineer, Senior

General Summary:

As a Qualcomm Software Engineer, you will design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs that launch cutting-edge, world-class products that meet and exceed customer needs. Qualcomm Software Engineers collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions and obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
2. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
3. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
4. 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. 3-12 years of experience with embedded systems and preferably in server architecture.
2. Knowledge and experience in driver development on one or more operating systems including RTOS or any embedded operating system.
3. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Must be proficient in C.
5. Good understanding of microprocessor, multiprocessor architecture.
6. Good understanding of basic real-time/embedded programming concepts & RTOS concepts.

Responsibilities:

1. Driver design and development on multiprocessor and multithreaded ASIC platforms with SDLC cycle.
2. Collaborate with hardware engineers and cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and develop software specifications for embedded systems.
3. Document software design, development, and testing processes for reference and future maintenance.
4. Drivers development/support includes 1-wire, 2-wire, serial peripheral industry standard protocol such as I2C, SPI and UART, PCIE.
5. Debug and resolve issues in drivers reported by internal test teams as well as by customers.

Level of Responsibility:

1. Works under supervision.
2. Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.
3. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
4. Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
