
Finance Assistant

Jhpiego, a global leader in improving health care for women and families, seeks a Finance Assistant, based in Islamabad. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an on-site financial and bookkeeping system required assuring the integrity and effective performance of the financial operations.
Responsibilities- Review bank and cash payment vouchers and ensure that all required supporting documents are duly attached and compliant with JHPEIGO and applicable donor requirements including UNFPA.
- Calculate and process travel advances, travel expense reports, settle travel advances, and ensure all expense supporting receipts are attached before submitting for payment approval, following up on uncleared advances.
- Prepare bank payments vouchers on QuickBooks.
- Scan and photocopy required financial records.
- Update financial record keeping; ensure all kinds of financial vouchers are placed in proper files.
- Closely monitor the bank book and ensure sufficient cash funds are available.
- Check and verify payment vouchers before processing, ensuring these are approved.
- Check staff claims in detail before payments.
- Calculate and process advances to staff and their reconciliations.
- Check petty cash/imprest vouchers before payments.
- Process bank transfer requests.
- Facilitate physical inventory checks of all offices every six months or at least annually, reconcile with records, and follow up with the inventory custodian to identify missing, lost, or damaged items.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's or equivalent preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in accounting/financial management, preferably in the non-profit and/or development sector.
- Knowledge and experience of QBE is essential. Proficiency in software applications, databases, spreadsheets including Microsoft Word, Excel, Accounting Package, and Payroll.
- Proven ability to work individually and in a team.
- Able to prioritize multiple competing tasks; perform tasks correctly, quickly, and efficiently according to their relative urgency and importance.
- Ability to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism.
- Willing to travel up to 25% to provincial and field offices.
