Overview

Job summary: Responsible for overseeing planning, execution, and reporting while adhering to budget and Group Internal Audit standards. Explain identified risks to management, support departmental activities, and manage relationships with senior auditee management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Team Member on assigned audit work involving audits primarily in Pakistan.
  • Ensure assigned audit work is executed efficiently and effectively within the given budget and timelines, in line with Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology standards.
  • Actively manage relationships with senior auditee management and stakeholders.
  • Support GIA audit teams by providing product/country knowledge and expertise for audits related to the individual's area of expertise.
  • Provide ongoing continuous monitoring support to Heads of Audit (HOAs) and Senior Audit Managers (SAMs) to expedite rectification of control weaknesses; raise issues outside formal audit work as needed.
  • Attend and present at formal committees and Group meetings on behalf of HOAs and SAMs, e.g., Governance Committees and Country Non-Financial Risk Committees.
  • Issue validation: track audit issue action plans through to completion in accordance with methodology requirements.
  • Carry out role in line with the Audit Charter and remain independent from management and free from interference.
  • Assist the HOA in managing the cost of assigned audits within the allocated budget.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies within audit work.
  • Participate as team member or team leader for assigned audit work and potentially lead more complex audits such as cross-functional and multi-location high-risk audits.
  • Ensure audit deliverables meet quality standards and timelines in line with the GIA methodology.
  • Draft and submit inputs to the audit scope (including the Audit Planning Memo and Process Risks Controls Matrix) proposed by the Audit Lead.
  • Assist in drafting the audit report in the GIA review process.
  • Track the implementation/delivery of agreed issues and action plans; provide advice on resolution of issues to auditees/action plan owners and escalate unresolved findings.
  • Demonstrate proactivity and positive engagement during team sessions; influence change within the department by highlighting potential enhancements.
  • Identify growth areas at the start of each audit and discuss with the Audit Lead how to address them.
  • Identify and complete key internal training for self-development.
  • Support the HOA to update risk assessments regularly to reflect changes in risk profiles and propose changes to the audit plan as appropriate.
  • Attend relevant meetings (e.g., Management Groups and Committees) at the HOA's request to stay informed on key business matters and ensure risks are identified and timely remediation plans are put in place.
  • Assist the HOA in managing relevant Product/Country clients and build working relationships to improve the control environment and keep updated with changes affecting risk profiles.
  • Communicate findings/issues/root causes clearly to relevant clients and monitor/escalate overdue action plans to the appropriate business manager and/or governance committee for resolution.
