Role and Responsibilities
  • Develop architectural strategies for data modeling, design, and implementation to meet stated requirements for metadata management, master data management, Data warehouses, ETL, and ELT.
  • Analyze business requirements, design scalable/robust data models, document conceptual, logical, and physical data model design, help developers in developing/creating database structures, and support developers throughout the project life cycle.
  • Lead and mentor data engineers focusing on the growth in their skills and ability to use DevOps and DataOps principles.
  • Investigate new technologies, data modeling methods, and information management systems to determine which ones should be incorporated into data architectures. Also develop implementation timelines and milestones.
  • Recognize and resolve conflicts between models, ensuring that information and data models are consistent with the ecosystem model (e.g., entity names, relationships, and definitions).
  • Participate in the design of the information architecture. Support projects, and review information elements, including models, glossary, flows, and data usage.
  • Guide the team in achieving the project goals/milestones.
  • Work independently within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Contribute as an expert to multiple delivery teams, define best practices, build reusable designs and components that align with industry trends and actively engage with wider data communities.
  • Conduct knowledge-driven data processing techniques like data curation, representation, standardization, normalization and any other type of processing that prepares the data for integration, persistence, analysis, exchange/share, etc.
Skills And Experience
  • Graduate or Post-Graduate in Computer Science, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Data Modeling for data warehouse and analytics applications like online analytical processing (OLAP) or database-related technologies.
  • Expert data modeling skills, i.e., conceptual, logical, and physical model design, experience with Enterprise Data Warehouses and Data Marts.
  • Good understanding of cloud database technologies and services, like GCP, Redshift, Aurora, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Experience in working with data governance, data quality, and data security teams.
  • Expertise in handling very large databases and large data volumes.
  • Comfortable working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures, and integrated datasets using traditional data integration technologies. These should include ETL/ELT, data replication/CDC, message-oriented data movement, and upcoming data ingestion and integration technologies such as stream data integration and virtualization.
  • Strong experience in working with and optimizing existing ETL processes, data integration, and preparation flows, and help moving them to production.
  • Hands-on with popular data discovery, analytics, and business intelligence software tools like MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI, and others for semantic-layer-based data discovery.
  • Efficiently lead and mentor teams for effective delivery.
  • Must have crisp and effective executive communication skills – proficiently conduct presentations across functions and other levels.
