Generative AI Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Generative AI Engineer to join our dynamic team at Lumunate. This is a full-time position tailored for individuals with strong foundations in AI/ ML and real-world experience in building intelligent, scalable systems using advanced technologies such as LLMs, LangChain and FastAPI.

As a Generative AI Engineer, you will work across the full spectrum of applied AI - from building and deploying LLM-backed tools to optimizing intelligent workflows with moderns frameworks. You'll be contributing to client-facing AI products, internal automation tools and advanced prototypes that align with our broader engineering roadmap.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and deploy AI-powered services and microservices using Python, FastAPI, Flask and related tools.
• Develop scalable APIs that integrate LLMs, prompt-engineered logic and external AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Cohere).
• Build and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, using vector databases.
• Construct intelligent workflows and custom AI agents using LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks.
• Evaluate and integrate embedding models (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face) for semantic search, document retrieval and vectorization within RAG workflows.
• Manage data pipelines and embeddings using vector databases like Pinecone, ChromaDB or Weaviate.
• Collaborate with UI/UX, frontend and backend engineers to integrate AI into client platforms.
• Engineer modular, well-structured prompts for advanced conversational and agent-based AI.
• Perform model evaluations, latency testing and cost-optimization techniques.
• Maintain clean codebases with full documentation, version control, best practices and reproducibility standards
• Work closely with project managers and clients to align features with business needs.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 1 - 2 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and core AI libraries (transformers, LangChain, etc).
• Proficiency in FastAPI or Flask for backend API development.
• Extensive experience with LLMs (GPT, Claude, LLaMA, etc.) and transformer architectures.
• Solid understanding of prompt engineering and fine-tuning techniques.
• Practical experience designing and implementing RAG pipelines, including document processing and vector search workflows.
• Familiarity with embedding models and their application within retrieval and semantic search systems.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, OpenAI Tools API, ChatML or agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with vector databases: Pinecone, Chroma, Weaviate, Qdrant, etc.
• Working knowledge of SQL/ NoSQL databases and database schema design.
• Prior experience building AI tools, conversational agents, automation systems or similar SaaS products is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines and web development (especially Node.js) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
