Purpose

Job Description (Café Manager)

Café Manager is responsible for the successful daily operations of the café. He/she hires, trains, manages, and supports shift supervisors and Baristas to ensure that the team provides consistent products, maintains a clean working environment, and delivers the highest level of guest experience.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate passion and confidence for the Second Cup Brand
  2. Honor guests by providing quick, friendly, and genuine service
  3. Generate guest satisfaction; respond appropriately to guest concerns
  4. Manage and motivate shift supervisors and Baristas
  5. Develop and implement café policies and procedures
  6. Ensure that shift supervisors and Baristas adhere to all Second Cup Standards, and that product quality and guest services are consistently maintained
  7. Responsible for hiring, firing, training, and conducting performance reviews
  8. Assist Operations Manager with placing orders for supplies required for the café
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Highly motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain positive morale and a professional attitude at all times
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Understanding of food and beverage operations
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Effective communication with coworkers and management to solve issues and improve quality and service
  • Work collaboratively with baristas, shift supervisors, and management to implement positive change
  • Ensure all baristas and shift supervisors follow cash handling procedures at all times
  • Follow business procedures for handling voids and cash handling mistakes
  • Perform end-of-shift reconciliation of cash and register records
