• Provide rehabilitation services to orthopedically and neurologically impaired patients under the guidance of the Supervisor Rehab / Senior Ortho-Prosthetist / Centre Manager, as required.
• Liaise with the rehab team regarding patient diagnosis, prescription, designing, and other relevant issues. Confer with physicians to formulate specifications and prescriptions for orthotic or prosthetic devices. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment.
• Examine, prescribe, design, and select proper components for patients.
• Take all casts and measurements required for proper fabrication and fitting.
• Perform modifications and alignments as needed.
• Ensure proper fitting and timely delivery of appliances. Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients within gait training areas, making adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort. Adjust prostheses or other assistive devices in the assembling hall.
• Provide advice, training, and assistance to P/O Technicians regarding operation and safety of equipment and appliances. Supervise medical support personnel.
• Maintain current knowledge of rehabilitation practices, measurement, and fitting techniques relevant to orthotic and prosthetic appliances.
• Ensure delivery of services within set timeframes and quality standards, in coordination with supervisors and managers.
• Maintain standard quality of appliances as per WHO and ICRC guidelines.
• Guide patients and attendants on appliance use, hygiene, and maintenance.
• Identify physical and other relevant characteristics of patients.
• Provide the supervisor and colleagues with necessary information and access for reliable communication regarding patients.
• Update daily patient records in the HMIS system regarding gait training, component issuance, etc.
• Maintain a production rate of 22-25 devices per month, including major and minor cases.
• Coordinate with physiotherapists to ensure smooth patient flow in gyms.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and tools; be prepared with alternative methods in case of equipment breakdowns.
• Use materials economically, minimizing wastage.
• Follow safety procedures, such as wearing goggles, gloves, and masks, to prevent health hazards.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the HOD, Supervisor Rehab, Senior Prosthetist Orthotist, or Centre Manager.
