Job Title: Assistant Mechanical Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Assistant Mechanical Technician with 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in industrial mechanical maintenance. This role involves assisting in equipment repair, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of mechanical systems to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical machinery including pumps, gearboxes, motors, piping systems, chillers, compressors, cranes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks in coordination with the maintenance team.
• Support senior technicians during equipment overhauls and emergency breakdowns.
• Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Assist in assembling, disassembling, and aligning mechanical components.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and the use of appropriate PPE.
• Report any mechanical issues or abnormalities promptly to the supervisor.
• Assist in the procurement and inventory management of mechanical spare parts.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Mechanical / Industrial
• OR
• Technical Certification in Mechanical Maintenance with equivalent practical experience

Experience:

• 2 to 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial or manufacturing environment

Skills Required:

• Sound understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and P&ID diagrams
• Familiarity with workshop practices, including welding, cutting, and fabrication
• Awareness of safety standards and procedures
• Strong teamwork, time management, and communication skills
• Physically fit and willing to work in shifts or under pressure when required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Hands-on experience operating a lathe machine
• Industry experience in steel, cement, chemical, textile, or similar plants
• Knowledge of condition monitoring tools (vibration, temperature, etc.)
