About The Role

We're looking for a Lead AI Engineer to take charge of designing and delivering real-world AI systems—from concept to production. You'll lead a team of AI engineers building solutions powered by LLMs, embeddings, agents, and automation pipelines for our end-to-end vertical AI platform.

This role isn't about building toy models or proof-of-concepts. You'll ship AI that runs in production, powers real operations, and scales across the restaurant tech industry.

What will be your responsibilities?
  • Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of production-grade AI solutions across use cases (NLP, RAG, LLM agents, predictive analytics).
  • Lead the design and deployment of AI-first systems using frontier models (GPT-4o, Claude 3, LLaMA 3, Mistral, Gemini).
  • Architect and implement RAG 2.0 pipelines using LangChain, LlamaIndex, Weaviate, and vector-aware chunking strategies.
  • Build and orchestrate multi-agent systems using tools like LangGraph, CrewAI, DSPy, or OpenAgents.
  • Integrate tool-use (OpenAI Function Calling, Anthropic Tool Use) into agent flows for dynamic API access, database querying, and automation triggers.
  • Own the prompt engineering lifecycle: chain design, safety, versioning, and evaluation.
  • Conduct code reviews for junior developers, providing guidance on best practices, clean code, and scalable architectures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and align AI solutions with business goals.
  • Mentor and guide junior AI engineers and data scientists, sharing knowledge on best practices in machine learning, deep learning, and software engineering.
  • Document AI development processes, model performance metrics, and technical specifications for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure AI solutions adhere to best practices in software engineering, including unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, and load testing.
  • Participate in the design and optimization of microservices architectures and message broker systems to support AI model deployment.
  • Implement data visualization, monitoring, and alerting tools to track AI model performance and system health in production.

What are we looking for and what does it require to be the right fit for this role?
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, AI, or a related field.
  • 4+ years in AI/ML, with at least 2 years leading AI teams on real production deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs (GPT-4, Claude, LLaMA, Mistral, Mixtral), and their APIs.
  • Strong command of modern LLM tooling.
  • Expertise in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and Databricks, with hands-on experience in services like Lambda/Serverless, SQS, SNS, S3, and EC2.
  • Proficiency in deploying Transformer-based models and integrating LLMs with web applications.
  • Strong skills in Git for source control, code review, and repository management.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and managing microservices architectures.
  • Expertise in building highly distributed, eventually consistent AI systems.
  • Familiarity with message broker systems and scalable data pipelines.
  • Expertise in RAG architectures (retrieval pipelines, embedding tuning, hybrid search, reranking).
  • Comfortable with vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, FAISS, and embedding models (OpenAI, Cohere, BGE).
  • Experience in production AI systems with versioned prompts, safety layers, token budget optimization, and cost/latency monitoring.
  • Skilled in Python, FastAPI, and cloud infra (AWS/GCP). MLOps tooling (Docker, CI/CD, feature stores, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization, monitoring, and alerting tools to maintain production AI models.
  • Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies like SQLAlchemy.
