Compliance & Learning Officer
Role Summary:
The role demands a detail-oriented professional who acts as a vital link between field teams and central operations, combining analytical strength with a strong sense of ownership. The incumbent will play a key role in fostering transparent, timely, and credible reporting that reflects the realities on the ground.
The Compliance and Learning Officer will ensure to review and observe field level compliance monitoring, data verification, and audit-level scrutiny of business operations, including input/output tracking, farmer transactions, retail and distribution systems, and program implementation activities. This role requires a meticulous approach to identifying operational risks, data anomalies, and procedural lapses within field operations and supply chains.
Responsibilities:
1. Compliance Monitoring and Audit:
- Conduct regular field audits to ensure compliance with internal SOPs and company requirements.
- Verify data accuracy from identified data points and sources, farmer transactions, and inventory movement.
- Identify irregularities or risks in activities implementation, operational processes, financial flows and recommend corrective actions.
- Track compliance of agri-business activities as per the finalized SOPs and policies
2. Data Validation & Integrity Checks:
- Perform data triangulation between digital platforms, physical registers, reported outputs and on ground implementation in target areas
- Lead spot checks, information verifications, and track traceability of data record in the field.
- Develop and apply data quality assurance protocols tailored to various business divisions.
- Hold focus group discussions (farmers), interviews (agents and staff) and make observation visits in field for primary data collection and information gathering.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare periodic compliance and audit updates with key findings, risk flags, and actionable recommendations as per the finalized reporting template
- Maintain time specific key findings trails and documentation for all verification exercises.
- Support internal/external assessments by gathering and providing information around compliance evidence.
4. Whistle blowing & Risk Mitigation:
- Act as a whistle blower in case of any red flag, plausible risk situation or deviation(s) from agreed policies and SOPs.
- Support the development of compliance tools, checklists, and internal control mechanisms.
- Flag and follow up on areas of non-compliance and develop SOP revisions where needed.
Must Have
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Finance, Audit, Compliance, Monitoring & Evaluation, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of agriculture value chains, regulatory frameworks, and rural field realities.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, internal audit, or compliance, preferably within an agri-business or rural development context.
- Experience working with farmer-facing interventions, agri-input/output markets, or digital agri-financing models is highly desirable.
