We are seeking a highly experienced Apparel Production Manager with extensive knowledge of garment manufacturing to lead and manage our new sportswear-focused apparel business. This is a key managerial role requiring a deep understanding of every aspect of the garments industry, including fabric sourcing, stitching, pattern making, sizing, and overall production management. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, overseeing, and continuously improving the entire production process, ensuring the highest quality standards and on-time delivery of products.
IMPORTANT: Should know people in garments industry like stitchers, pattern masters, designers and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically plan and manage the entire garment production process, from fabric sourcing to final product delivery.
- Ensure that all production activities align with business goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Fabric Sourcing Leadership:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of global and local fabric markets — knowing which fabrics are best sourced from where, and which are suitable for each part of a garment.
- Develop relationships with reliable fabric suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure the best materials at competitive prices.
Pattern Making and Stitching Management:
- Supervise the selection and management of pattern masters and stitchers, ensuring they are skilled, efficient, and produce garments to the highest standards.
- Oversee the pattern-making process to ensure correct fits, precise grading, and adherence to sizing standards, especially for sportswear.
Sizing and Fit Expertise:
- Establish and maintain accurate sizing charts, ensuring consistency across product lines and markets (US, EU, UK, Asian sizing).
- Oversee the fit process for all garments, guaranteeing high-quality, consistent, and comfortable sportswear.
- Lead the integration of sportswear-specific features, such as moisture-wicking fabrics, stretch materials, and technical finishes.
- Stay updated on the latest sportswear trends and innovations, implementing best practices in design and production.
Team Management and Development:
- Build, lead, and motivate a high-performing production team, including pattern masters, stitchers, and quality controllers.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable work culture focused on continuous improvement.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Implement and enforce robust quality control processes throughout production to ensure every garment meets company and industry standards.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining the highest product quality.
Vendor and Supply Chain Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and subcontractors, ensuring seamless coordination across the supply chain.
Reporting and Communication:
- Provide regular, detailed reports on production progress, quality metrics, supplier performance, and budget adherence to senior management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all production-related matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
- Alternatively, candidates without a formal degree in these fields must demonstrate substantial, relevant experience in managing garment production, including fabric sourcing, pattern making, stitching, and sportswear construction.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to oversee multiple production activities simultaneously.
- Proven expertise in fabric sourcing, pattern making, stitching, sizing, and sportswear production.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience setting up production operations in a startup or growth-focused environment.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and ERP systems.
