Research Technician I
The Research Technician I will perform standard laboratory procedures in the laboratory of Dr. Marneros at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center/MGH.
Duties include:
- Mouse colony management and husbandry, including tagging, tailing, genotyping, euthanasia, and tissue harvest, as well as phenotypic characterization of mouse phenotypes.
- Routine molecular biology, histology/immunochemistry, microscopy, and flow cytometry to support projects in cutaneous biology and immunology.
Our laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms involved in wound healing, angiogenesis, and inflammation.
Wet Lab Experience Required
Please submit your unofficial transcript and letters of recommendation.
Project 1: We investigate the role of proangiogenic factors in wound healing and age-related diseases. Our findings include VEGF-A inducing oxidative stress and NLRP3 inflammasome activation, promoting age-related diseases, supported by publications (Cell Reports, 2013; FASEB J, 2014; EMBO Mol Med, 2016; FASEB J, 2018; eLife, 2020). We employ various in vivo and in vitro approaches to explore a novel pathogenic link between VEGF-A and NLRP3 inflammasome activation.
Project 2: We identified a novel pathway critical for epithelial differentiation in the kidney and skin, playing a role in development, with implications for diseases, supported by publications (Dev Cell, 2020; Cell Reports, 2021; J Clin Invbest, 2024). We explore molecular mechanisms regulating skin and kidney development.
Our lab uses diverse experimental approaches, including human and mouse genetics, chemical screens, in vitro assays, and advanced imaging, with strong translational relevance.
We are based in a well-equipped environment at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center, MGH, Harvard Medical School, with access to cutting-edge technologies.
