Summary

Responsible for designing, developing, and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Ensures that the biomedical equipment complies with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.

Essential Functions
  1. Participates in all phases of capital equipment purchases, including clinical needs determination, budgeting, market survey and evaluation, and introduction of devices into clinical areas.
  2. Mentors and trains other biomedical engineers.
  3. Leads large-scale projects across an entity.
  4. Approves new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes, and making modifications.
  5. Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance.
  6. Directs biomedical equipment operation by providing demonstrations, instructing healthcare staff in use and care, and answering questions.
  7. Improves equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction, consulting with equipment users, developing modifications, and collaborating with manufacturers.
  8. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering required.

Experience

Biomedical Engineering experience of 5-7 years required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in biomedical equipment, testing, maintenance, and diagnostic repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills for building relationships and sharing information effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving issues with medical equipment.
  • Ability to lead and mentor.
  • Excellent team-building skills for collaboration with healthcare providers.
