The Payroll Supervisor for Client Payroll Services will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations for multiple clients of our UK based consulting firm, ensuring that each client's payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with UK regulations. This role includes managing a team, handling complex payroll needs across a diverse client portfolio, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate has extensive UK payroll experience, strong technical knowledge, and excellent client management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Payroll Management: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution according to client-specific requirements.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure client payrolls comply with HMRC requirements, including PAYE, NIC, statutory payments, and pensions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the payroll team, providing training and support to ensure high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding payroll queries, updates, and consultations on payroll-related matters.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess payroll processes to streamline and improve accuracy, addressing any pain points unique to client payrolls.
  • Reporting and Reconciliation: Generate accurate payroll reports for clients, and perform payroll account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies with finance teams as needed.
  • Year-End and Statutory Reporting: Oversee year-end payroll activities for clients, including P60s, P11Ds, and any other statutory reporting.
  • System Management: Utilize and maintain payroll software including brightpay, ensuring data integrity and customization as required by individual clients.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement checks and controls to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance, and regularly update payroll processes to align with changing legislation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Supervisor or Payroll Manager, ideally within a professional services or client payroll environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll regulations, HMRC compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Sage, BrightPay, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client payrolls and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build client relationships and explain complex payroll issues clearly.
  • Professional certifications in payroll (e.g., CIPP or ACCA) are highly desirable.
