Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-availability database architectures.
  • Develop and enforce database management, backup & restore policies and best practices to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, and administration of Oracle Databases, ERP Applications DBA, SQL Server and other open source databases across different OS platforms (Linux, Solaris, Windows).
  • Implement query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning to enhance database efficiency.
  • Perform regular system health checks to minimize downtime and ensure high availability.
  • Manage database security, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for business continuity.
  • Regularly test DR failover mechanisms and ensure rapid recovery in case of system failures.
  • Manage CAPEX and OPEX for database operations, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive migration to open-source database technologies to reduce licensing costs.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
  • Implement best practices for data lifecycle management, archiving, and compression techniques.
  • Lead database-related IT projects, including digitization initiatives (e.g., transitioning from paper-based signing to digital workflows).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Database Administration team, ensuring a high-performing culture.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure and enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure data integrity, encryption, and access controls across all database environments.
  • Manage relationships with database vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):

Education:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Administration or a related field is required.

Work Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in database administration & IT management.
  • Experience in the telecom sector or handling large-scale, high-transaction databases is a plus.

Skills – Generic:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
  • Focused on performance optimization, security, and high availability.

Skills – Job Specific:

  • Expertise in Oracle database, ERP applications DBA, SQL Server, and open source databases (Linux, Solaris, Windows).
  • Experience with replication, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Databases, Dataguard, and performance tuning.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Solaris administration, Oracle Enterprise Grid, and VERITAS NetBackup.
