JOB SUMMARY:

The National Medical Doctor is responsible for overall patient care, including promoting the health and safety of patients through thorough triage, history taking, physical examinations, laboratory and radiology investigations, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and patient education.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Provide high-quality clinical care based on patient history, physical examination, laboratory and imaging tests, and formulary for both acute and chronic conditions.
  2. Conduct daily rounds, initiate case discussions, monitor and document patient progress, and ensure proper handover if responsibilities are transferred.
  3. Determine if further testing or advanced care is needed and initiate referrals.
  4. Participate in case discussions and training sessions.
  5. Identify staff training needs and provide didactic or hands-on training.
  6. Advocate for staff training and development.
  7. Utilize data collection tools and train staff as needed.
  8. Collect and analyze medical service data to improve quality of care.
  9. Ensure adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
  10. Participate in 24-hour health service delivery as per shift schedules.
  11. Follow international protocols for patient assessment, diagnostics, and medication prescription.
  12. Manage and supervise clinical staff, participate in hiring if needed.
  13. Provide health education on diagnoses, healthy lifestyles, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  14. Adhere to administrative directives regarding work schedules, record keeping, and supplies.
  15. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
  16. Report violations of the Code of Conduct, including patient safeguarding issues.
  17. Conduct outreach health services as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned. The listed duties are representative and not exhaustive.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Medical degree with a valid license and board certification or equivalent (board eligible).
  2. At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in low-resource settings.
  3. Experience in primary health care, maternal and child health, reproductive health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, or emergency response is preferred.
  4. Previous NGO experience is advantageous.
  5. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  7. Self-motivated with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  8. Flexible and capable of handling stressful situations.
  9. Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and cultures.
