Job Description
TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Responsible for assigned patients in the Medical Critical Care Complex, completing 200 hours/month duties in shifts.
  • Manage ventilator support comprehensively, including airway management, oxygen therapy escalation or de-escalation, intubation (invasive and non-invasive ventilation), hourly assessment, blood gas sampling, interpretation, and adjustment of ventilatory parameters in consultation with a consultant.
  • Must have experience and be credentialed for arterial catheter placement.
  • Manage airway care, assist with intubation, suctioning, and ventilator support.
  • Provide care for patients requiring oxygen therapy or airway assistance, a primary responsibility of RTs.
  • Maintain records of ventilator use, update daily functional status in MCCC, manage extubation checklists, and document incidents involving ventilated patients.
  • Document all spontaneous breathing trials, including parameters followed as per weaning criteria (weaning policy).
  • Participate in education related to airway management, suctioning, intubation, NIV, and ventilator parameters.
  • Learn and assist in education regarding intubation procedures.
  • Ensure the safe transport of critically ill patients requiring ventilatory support, both inter-hospital and intra-hospital.
