Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist is a critical member of our healthcare team responsible for providing high-quality patient care, managing ventilator support and airway management, and participating in education and training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage patients with respiratory disorders, including oxygen therapy escalation or de-escalation, intubation, and hourly assessment.
- Manage ventilator support comprehensively, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and adhering to consultative guidelines.
- Conduct arterial catheter placement and assist with intubation, suctioning, and ventilator support as required.
- Provide care for patients requiring oxygen therapy or airway assistance, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
- Record ventilator use, update daily functional status, manage extubation checklists, and document incidents involving ventilated patients.
- Document all spontaneous breathing trials, following weaning criteria and policies.
- Engage in education and training related to airway management, suctioning, intubation, non-invasive ventilation, and ventilator parameters.
- Ensure safe transport of critically ill patients requiring ventilatory support, both inter-hospital and intra-hospital.
Requirements
- Experience and credentialed for arterial catheter placement.
- Strong knowledge of airway management, suctioning, intubation, NIV, and ventilator parameters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
