The Team

The team focuses on enabling persistence storage technologies and advancing cloud-native technology within Careem to help shape the future of the platform and scale efforts significantly.

What You'll Do

  1. Build and maintain Kafka clusters and ecosystems to ensure resilience, reliability, and scalability of services, improving deployment speed and product quality for millions of users.
  2. Design, develop, and operate storage clusters on AWS, supporting automation, tooling, and technical processes that simplify engineering efforts across services, while maintaining security and reliability.
  3. Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response improvements.

What You'll Need

  1. 5+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Expertise in developing, operating, and troubleshooting storage clusters or highly available systems at scale.
  3. Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes.
  4. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, Groovy, Scala, or Ruby.
  5. Experience with Cloud Infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  6. Knowledge of infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code) and a strong Unix/Linux background, including networking and scripting.
  7. Incident management experience is a plus.
  8. Additional skills in automation, monitoring, CI/CD, and security are advantageous.
