About The Team

The team focuses on enabling persistence storage technologies and advancing cloud-native technology within Careem to shape the future of the platform and scale our efforts significantly.

What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain Kafka clusters and ecosystems on AWS to ensure resilience, reliability, and scalability of services used by millions daily.
  • Design, develop, and operate storage clusters, support tooling, and create technical processes to simplify and empower engineers across services.
  • Identify, automate, and scale systems while maintaining security and reliability.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response improvements.
What You'll Need
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in developing, operating, and troubleshooting storage clusters or highly available systems at scale.
  • Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, Groovy, Scala, or Ruby.
  • Experience with Cloud Infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code) and a strong Unix/Linux background, including networking and scripting.
  • Incident response or management experience is a plus.
  • Additional skills in automation topics like monitoring, CI/CD, and security are advantageous.
