About The Team

The team focuses on enabling persistence storage technologies and advancing cloud-native technology within Careem to shape the future of the platform and scale our efforts significantly.

What You'll Do

  1. Build and maintain Kafka clusters and their ecosystems to ensure resilience, reliability, and scalability of services, enhancing deployment speed and improving products used by millions daily.
  2. Design, develop, and operate storage clusters on AWS, supporting tooling and creating technical processes to simplify and enable engineering efforts across multiple services. Automate and scale systems while ensuring security and reliability.
  3. Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response improvements.

What You'll Need

  1. 5+ years of relevant experience.
  2. Expertise in developing, operating, and troubleshooting storage clusters or highly available systems at scale.
  3. Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes.
  4. Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, Java, Groovy, Scala, Ruby.
  5. Experience with Cloud Infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  6. Knowledge of infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code) and a strong Unix/Linux background, including networking and scripting. Incident response/management experience is a plus.
  7. Additional skills in automation topics such as monitoring, CI/CD, and security are advantageous.
