
Business Development Officer

Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with the Managing Director to achieve revenue goals.
Assist in the company's branding and media communication activities such as press releases, advertisements, marketing collaterals, and web site.
Analyze the current and past budgets, expenses, sales, revenues, and product deficiencies in order to provide recommendations for business growth and problem resolution.
Research the market for identifying new business opportunities.
Explain prospective clients about the advantages of the products or services offered and follow up with them in order to close the business deals.
Respond to client queries regarding the products in a timely fashion.
Develop business proposals for new and existing customers.
Develop creative strategies to retain clients including interviewing them to take their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
Prepare the annual marketing budget and track the expenses against the budget.
Develop in-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities, prospective clients, and industry trends.
Maintain a knowledge repository of clients, referrals, RFPs, prospects, and presentations.
Develop strong customer relationships in order to generate a high volume of prospective clients.
Manage customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities.
Participate in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences as a representative of the organization.
Determine cross-selling opportunities among different offices.
Supervise the client relationship management database and utilize it to manage customer contacts and mailing lists.
Hire, train, and guide the marketing and business development associates.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: A good business developer must have strong communication skills in order to communicate, present, assert, and speak to all the different stakeholders involved.
- Collaboration Skills: Business Development is not a one-man show; it involves collaboration with multiple parties from inside and outside the company. Therefore, any good business developer should be able to build relationships, influence, manage conflicts, and navigate through office politics in order to get things done.
- Negotiation & Persuasion Skills: This includes being tactful and diplomatic at all times. Achieving your set goals requires that you learn when to compromise and when to take a stand. To persuade your prospects to do what needs to be done, you will need to win their hearts, minds, and trust.
- Project Management Skills: Good business developers are, in some way, also project managers. They have to be able to plan and manage projects, manage the risks involved, calculate budgets, costs, time, and teams working on ongoing projects.
- Research & Strategy: A Business Developer will need to have strong research and strategic analysis skills.
- Computer Skills: This comes without thinking these days. Any decent employee, nevertheless a Business Development Manager, must have high competency working with Microsoft Office, and even CRM software is a must for this job.
- Business Intelligence: Knowing all about your business services and products is essential. Knowing everything about your competition will provide you with the leverage you need to surpass them. Any respectable business developer will conduct the necessary competitive analysis needed to identify the company's current position and what competitive advantage the company has over them. Therefore, business developers must be able to collect the data they need in order to prepare an accurate analysis.
